"Yesterday, a man in a pickup truck mowed people down on a bike path in Lower Manhattan". NY Times

It happened just where I live, it happened where I usually ride my bike with my kids. But yesterday was too windy for me to take the bike, I stayed home, Wahe Guru!

I was fine during the hours that followed the attack but I had a rough night with bad dreams. When I woke up I wasn't good at all, my mind had had time to process the events, I felt shaken and stressed out, I cried for the victims but also because it could have been me or my friends.

So I used my tools, I have a little manual of meditations designed for the time of crisis, "The survival guide". In here I found this wonderful meditation to deal with sudden shock. Today I'm sharing it with you. Usually the videos I post are just extract of meditations, I show your how to do it but you have to do it by yourself. But today you will be able to do it entirely with me.

How to do it

Sit Straight. Relax the arms down with the elbows bent. Draw the forearms in toward each other until the hands meet in front of the body about 1 inch above the navel. Point both palms up and rest the right hand in the palm of theft hand. Pull the thumbs towards the body and press the thumb tips together.

Look at the tip of your nose. Deeply inhale and completely exhale as you chant the following mantra in a monotone:

"Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Wahay Guroo

Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Wahay Guroo

Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Wahay Guroo"

The entire mantra must be chanted on 1 breath.

Continue for 11 minutes.

To end

Deeply inhale and completely exhale, 5 times.

Then deeply inhale, hold the breath and stretch the arms up over the head as high as possible. Exhale and relax down.

Repeat twice.
